        How PrettyLitter Works

PrettyLitter changes color to tell you when your cat has a potential health issue, so you can get them help before it becomes an urgent medical situation. Our silica litter (crystal cat litter) could save you big money on expensive vet bills, not to mention it could save your cat's life.

        • TypicalDark yellow / olive green indicates urine within a typical, healthy range.
        • Orange Acidity outside the average range, which may be a sign of metabolic acidosis or kidney tubular acidosis. Calcium oxalate crystals can be more likely to form in acidic urine.
        • Blue / Dark Green Alkalinity outside of the average range may be present if your cat has certain types of urinary tract infections. Highly alkaline urine can increase the risk of struvite crystal/stone formation.
        • Red Visible presence of blood, which may indicate Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disorder (FLUTD), bladder stones/crystals, kidney stones, bladder inflammation, certain types of kidney disease and clotting disorders.

You can buy a single bag of litter as a one-time purchase if you want to try it, or set up a subscription so litter arrives automatically when you need it. Our subscriptions are flexible—you can pause or cancel anytime. This not only gives you peace of mind that your cat’s litter box is always stocked, but also helps you keep track of their health consistently without worrying about running out or missing important changes.

          Frequently Asked Questions

How many pounds is 1 bag of PrettyLitter?

Our litter bags weigh 6 pounds per bag. PrettyLitter is up to 80% lighter than traditional clay litter. Gone are the days of taking huge trash bags of heavy pet waste to the garbage. You can now handle and dispose of your cat waste with less effort.

How long does one bag of cat litter last?

In a household with a single cat, a 6lb bag of litter lasts about a month before needing to be replaced. However, there are some factors that can affect consumption such as the size of the cat's litter box and how often it gets scooped and replaced. Our silica gel crystals are extremely absorbent, so you'll likely need less of it to do the same job.

How many inches of cat litter goes into the litter box?

Litter boxes using PrettyLitter should have two inches of depth to them, so the correct amount of kitty litter will vary on the size of the litter box. With PrettyLitter's absorbent silica-gel crystal formula, one fill should last an entire month for one medium-sized cat.

Can you buy PrettyLitter without a subscription?

Yes, you can buy PrettyLitter without a subscription! However, subscribing is usually the better value compared to a one-time purchase because it saves you money and saves you the hassle of remembering to reorder. With a subscription, your bag of litter ships automatically on a schedule that works for you, and you can cancel anytime. If you’re looking for an easy way tobuy cat litter onlineand want to save more in the long run, our subscription is the way to go.

What do the PrettyLitter colors indicate?

PrettyLitter reacts to the pH of your cat's urine. When urine comes in contact with the litter, it can turn orange, green or blue. If there is noticeable blood present in the urine you will see red on the white litter. So,what do the PrettyLitter colors mean?

          • Olive green to yellow: Indicates your cat's urine is within the typical range. Want to test this color? Tap water will have a similar pH and show green to yellow.
          • Blue: Indicates urine is more alkaline than normal and may mean a urinary track infection, for example. Want to test your litter? Ammonia will have a similar pH and show blue.
          • Orange: Indicates urine is more acidic than the normal range. This may mean bladder crystals or stones. Want to test this color? Vinegar will have a similar pH and show orange.
          • Red: Because our litter is white, blood in urine appears red and is easy to spot.

We advise against mixing PrettyLitter with any other litter because it can affect the visibility of the color change and its performance.

Is PrettyLitter safe for my cat?

PrettyLitter was developed by a team of veterinarians and scientists specifically for cats. The litter is made ofSilica Gel, which you may be familiar with from other products like food wrappings, toothpaste, and cosmetics. PrettyLitter is made from amorphous silica, which is safe for cats.
